Revisiting Uncle John’s Holiday Hits 7 Years Later!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! That sentence isn’t just a fun opening statement for a holiday-themed blog. It also happens to be the title of a well known holiday hit. Unfortunately, the song doesn’t appear on either volume of Uncle John’s Holiday Hits

Wait a minute. Don’t tell us you didn’t know about the festive duo of compilations recorded by none other than MeloTel Founder and CEO, John Meloche! Back in 2012, John released his debut 13-track album as a free digital download on Bandcamp. The project also features the wonderful vocals of his friend and one-time co-worker, Nadia Luna.

John followed the project up with a solo sophomore effort just one year later. Adding eight new songs to the fold, John completed his 21-track magnum opus of holiday favourites in 2013.

It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

Each and every year, fans of the holidays (and who isn’t, right?) get to enjoy John’s renditions of some of our most cherished holiday classics. Among them are such favourites as “Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire”, “Here Comes Santa Claus”, “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus”, “Frosty The Snowman”, “Let It Snow”, “Little Drummer Boy” and “White Christmas”. The compilations also offer such unappreciated hits as “I Want A Hippopatamus For Christmas” and “Blue Christmas”.

Now, while John may not have gone into music professionally, it’s hard to deny the quality of his two “Holiday Hits” albums. While they were both created for fun and offered to the world at no charge (John contended that the recordings were created simply to help people get into the holiday spirit), the songs showcase his dedication to professionalism.

Both projects were recorded and mixed by T.J. Habibi.

T.J. owns and operates Toronto-based Secret Suburbia Studios. An acclaimed songwriter, vocalist, producer, instrumentalist and engineer, T.J. is also responsible for recording and mixing such notable artists as Ivana Santilli, Choclair and Maestro Fresh Wes whose 2017 album, Coach Fresh was nominated in the Best Rap Recording category at the 2018 Juno Awards.

T.J. has also recorded and mixed albums for Dan-e-o, who released his fifth solo album, The Day It All Changed just two months ago. The album is an impassioned ode to his five year-old daughter, Melina, who also appears on the album and the album cover. Also known as MeloTel’s Editor In Chief, Daniel Faraldo, this veteran lyricist is currently working with his buddy, John on a brand new rap-related theme song for the company.

New music is on the way!

About ten years ago, Dan and John collaborated on a track, simply entitled “1-888-MELOTEL” – the company’s unofficial anthem, at the time. Expect its highly-touted follow up to debut in early 2020.

For now, we call upon all friends, family members, clients, customers and colleagues of the MeloTel family to enjoy all of the above mentioned projects by clicking on the links provided. You’re also invited to like and follow the Uncle John’s Holiday Hits Facebook page. Just as with John’s original objective behind releasing two holiday-themed compilations of music, this blog was created to help you get into the holiday spirit.

On behalf of the entire MeloTel team, happy holidays! Enjoy the music!
