Happy Canada Day From Everyone At MeloTel!

On behalf of everyone, here at MeloTel, we’d like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Canada Day! As Canada Day falls on Monday, July 1st, we’ll all be enjoying the first long weekend of the summer starting tonight! To confirm, MeloTel will be closed, but back open for business bright and early on the morning of Tuesday, July 2nd. Until then, here’s hoping you have a wonderful weekend planned and that you enjoy it from start to finish!

The MeloTel team is made up of very proud Canadians.

You don’t have to pull any teeth in order to get members of the MeloTel team to express how proud they are to be Canadian. Our Founder and CEO, John Meloche is always quick to mention that he is, in fact, a fifth generation Canadian, making his children, Becky, Mark and Lukas all sixth generation Canadians.

Living in Toronto, Ontario, this is quite the interesting attribute as our amazing hometown is home to people who have immigrated from all over the world. Our Editor In Chief, Daniel Faraldo, for example, is a first generation Canadian with his mother and father having immigrated from Jamaica and Spain, respectively.

“My parents chose Canada for a better life,” he told our team, “They both came within years of each other and met each other here. Neither of them had desires for returning to their birth countries, having recognized what wonderful lives they were able to develop in Canada. As a first generation Canadian, I’m very proud to live in a country that has such a diverse population. We truly live in a land that is ‘glorious and free’.”

The nation’s diversity is often listed as a top draw.

However, there are countless other reasons to be proud to call Canada home. Consider the very makeup of the land we call Canada. It’s one of the most beautiful nations on the planet! And that’s saying a lot considering how huge the land mass of our nation is. The second largest on Earth, after Russia, Canada boasts many incredible landscapes.

“Canada is an expansive piece of land, and it therefore has a wide range of diverse landscapes,” writes Rachel Piers on Fitneff.ca, “The scenery across the country is pretty impressive, and it’s well-known for housing a lot of beauty. From the awe-inspiring majesty of the Rocky Mountains to the wide open skies of the Prairies to the lush greenery of the coast, there’s a lot to love about our country’s terrain.”

Canadians are known for being genuine, trustworthy and polite.

Of course, not everyone in Canada is a sweetheart. We’ve all been cut off in traffic by someone who has flipped us the bird in the process. However, globally, Canadians have the reputation of being some of the friendliest people in the world. On BuzzFeed.com, Tanya Chen shares the story of a man who had a particularly interesting encounter while on vacation.

“While wearing a shirt that said ‘Canada’ in a McDonalds in Berlin, a lady came up to me and asked if I was Canadian,” he recalls, “After saying I was, she asked if I could look after her CHILD while she went to stand in line. When she saw the look of confusion she simply said, ‘You’re Canadian, I know I can trust you.’”

O Canada! Happy Birthday! Enjoy it everyone!
