Last week Wednesday, the MeloTel team finally brought its “Best Clean Joke Contest” to a close. As promised, we revealed the winner of the contest via a live stream video on Thursday, November 8th. We’d like to take this opportunity to firstly, thank each every entrant into the contest. You gave our team a lot of chuckles with your jokes! We’re happy to have launched this particular contest, knowing how much good-natured positive energy it would generate.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to point out the importance of following the rules of a contest. During the live stream video, our Founder and CEO, John Meloche pointed out that, while we received numerous entries into the contest, the three finalists were the only individuals who actually followed the rules to a tee!
You can’t win if you don’t follow the rules!
We requested that contest entrants call the toll-free number that was specifically set up for the contest: 1-888-206-3515. We also asked that, after leaving the clean, non-vulgar joke at the sound of the beep, entrants leave their names, spelling them out completely. That way, we’d be able to locate each entrant on Facebook to confirm that he/she liked our MeloTel Facebook page.
“There were a number of people that actually submitted jokes – some really good ones – but they didn’t like the page,” explains John in the live stream video, “They didn’t leave information every time, and we can’t look you up on Facebook through a phone number. So you’re pretty much out of luck!”
Our finalists were BJ Lay, Kelly Delorme and Micah Woloschuk.
These three finalists all read through our contest rules, followed them and, as a result, became the top three choices for winners in our “Best Clean Joke Contest”! Last Thursday, members of the MeloTel team gathered in the office to listen to the top three joke submissions so that they could collectively choose what their favourite joke was.
First up was BJ Lay who submitted the following joke:
“What did one snowman say to the other snowman? Do you smell carrots?”
The entire MeloTel team got a good laugh out of that one.
Kelly Delorme was next up with this joke:
“What did the traffic light say to the car? Don’t look, I’m changing.”
This made the team chuckle too!
Micah Woloschuk offered:
“So today I went to an all you can eat middle eastern restaurant with a bunch of friends. We ate so much and now I falafel (feel awful).”
The play on words definitely elicited giggles from the entire team although John admitted he’d heard the joke a number of times before. He did, however, specify that there were no contest rules that requested jokes to be original or made up by the contest entrant.
Congratulations to BJ Lay!
A number of MeloTel’s Facebook friends commented in the live stream post comment section that Micah should have won the contest with that entry. Our Administrative Assistant, Chantel Cascanette was torn. She threw votes the way of both BJ and Micah but ended up being the tie-breaker when she ultimately decided that the snowman smelling the carrot joke was her favourite. When it was all said and done, the team went with the joke submitted by BJ Lay as its top choice!
