The Importance Of Engaging With Your Customers

There are many ways to define “customer engagement”. But, as far as we’re concerned, the easiest way to describe it is “the ongoing interactions between a business and its customers that keep those very customers coming back”. It’s important to remember that, in 2018, the average consumer is looking for more than products and services from the companies he/she chooses to support. A customer wants a relationship.

In today’s business world, it’s important to make connections. The relationships you have with your customers go at the top of the list of things people consider when they make their buying decisions. Do you offer always-friendly customer service? Do you deliver on time? Do you remember your customers when they re-visit? A healthy combination of pleasantries and trustworthiness is a strong element of a good customer relationship.

Strong customer engagement includes word-of-mouth promotion.

If we’ve mentioned it once, we’ve likely mentioned it a thousand times. There’s simply no type of promotion like word-of-mouth promotion. As Alex McEachern of explains, customers who engage with other customers due to a common interest in your brand is a sign you’re handling customer engagement the right way. “A customer doesn’t necessarily need to engage with just the brand in order to be an engaged customer,” he writes, “If customers are engaging with each other, it should count towards a brand’s customer engagement as long as the topic of their engagement is focused around the brand.”

In what specific ways can you engage your customers?

In-store demonstrations are among the most obvious methods. When people enter your store and you present them with fun and engaging presentations that showcase the benefits of your products, you’re bound to have people gain greater interests in your brand. Never underestimate face-to-face interactions as ways to develop brand loyalty.

With that said, however, you also can’t discount the extremely huge popularity of social media. According to mTAB, a top medium for customer engagement is social media “such as Facebook pages, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Twitter – basically a page that has pertinent information regarding your product or service, including promotional campaigns, ‘Try it and see’ coupons for new products, sales ads, product information, and/or detailed services.”
