The Art Of Keeping Customers Happy Even While On Vacation

Today is officially the last day of summer. With the fall season beginning tomorrow, many Canadians are feeling a sense of sorrow knowing that the warmest season of the year is now behind them. However, you can’t tell that to MeloTel’s Founder and CEO, John Meloche. He is happily stretching out his summer vacation by taking his family on a tour of the eastern United States.

Travelling by motor home, John, his wife Kathryn and their two sons Mark and Lukas are currently soaking up the sunrays in the beautiful State of Florida. They’ve been travelling south through the American east coast since the beginning of the month and don’t return until the beginning of October. And, as much as we wish John and his family an enjoyable rest of their vacation, we’d like to ensure all MeloTel customers that they’ve been left in very capable hands.

John is a “cross all t’s and dot all i’s” kind of person. And while he was definitely deserving of his long-anticipated and well-needed vacation, there is no way he would have taken it had he not felt completely confident that the members of the MeloTel team could provide the excellent customer service that the company has become known for in his absence. Although John can still be reached for emergencies, MeloTel’s main contact is its Customer Service Supervisor, Michael Paz.

It’s important to keep in mind that, as a business owner, you are certainly allowed time away from the office. It’s imperative, however, that you make sure to inform your customer base of your absence and provide them with information as to how they may contact you or who they may contact while you’re away.

Prior to his departure, John sent out his weekly newsletter, to all MeloTel customers who have subscribed to it, in order to inform them of his vacation. As mentioned, it’s a high priority of his to keep his customers in the loop. John has also created an automatic response email that is sent to everyone who emails him while he is on his trip. And it contains some vital pieces of information.

They begin with a notification that the emailer’s message is still being received by John and that it will be returned if required. It continues with a statement declaring that immediate matters can be handled by contacting MeloTel directly and speaking to Michael. His phone number, extension and email address is provided. John also informs that a ticket can be started for non-urgent matters by emailing support@melotel.com. As well, for any maintenance or other known issues, customers can visit the MeloTel Networks Operations Status page for up-to-the-minute service status information.
