To better explain the benefits of using Cloud Softphone, MeloTel’s Founder and CEO, John Meloche created a video and posted it to YouTube last week. Watch it HERE! Admitting that our company could probably have done a better job in promoting the Cloud Softphone feature, John wanted to provide clear instructions on how our phone service clients can make use of it.
The idea for creating the video was inspired by one of our customers who called John up and noted his being completely in the dark about Cloud Softphone. Keeping our customers in the dark is most definitely not part of the MeloTel mandate! So, to shed some light, John offered up a great description of what many may be missing out on.
Cloud Softphone, details John, is “a mobile application that runs on iOS and Android, available in the Google Play store and the Apple Store, that allows you to register your smartphone to the same extension that you have on your desk and use that extension to be able to make and receive calls, just like you would as if you were sitting at your desk. But over Wi-Fi and LTE.”
This awesome service (remember, it comes free with your current phone service!) essentially allows you to take your business phone with you wherever you go. No longer are you required to give out your cell phone number for business purposes. Your clients, colleagues and co-workers can all call your business extension and with the Cloud Softphone, your smartphone can be used to answer the call.
“It allows you to make calls on behalf of your company,” informs John in the new video, “If your calls are recorded, they’re still stored in your same archive that you have on your system now. (It’s) a great tool if you’re travelling on business and still need to be able to make calls on behalf of the business – and also receive calls. It’s also good to cheat while you’re on vacation, connected to the resort Wi-Fi. Make calls back to Canada free!”
