If you’re a MeloTel client – and then again, even if you aren’t one of the lucky ones just yet! – then you are well aware that there are always changes happening with our company. As they say, change is good, right? And our ongoing need to provide our customers with the absolute best telecom services in our industry has us continually looking for ways to improve upon what we have to offer.
Well, we’ve done so yet again! In fact, we have a very important announcement that affects all of the services that MeloTel has available. We are extremely excited to reveal that we are migrating our DC3 data centre from Markham to a brand new state-of-the-art facility known as DC1. This move will give us the opportunity to grow and expand our platform as well as increase our serviceability.
The migration of the MeloTel infrastructure to our new facility is scheduled over two blocks. The only minor unfortunate downside to the move is that there will be a temporary service interruption for all of our customers across all of our platforms. Of course, it is always our intention to provide the absolute best customer service experiences to our clients. So we certainly understand those who may feel inconvenienced by the interruption.
There never really is a good time to have your services interrupted, and we totally recognize that. However, we’re left without much of a choice, considering that we will need to physically move our equipment in order to build on our network. The migration represents a necessary part of our commitment to offer even better service going forward. So we would definitely appreciate your understanding and patience during the time of the move.
As you know, MeloTel prides itself on being a one-stop shop for all of your business needs. We have slowly, but surely grown into Canada’s Hosted Company by providing our clients with such incredible services as Web Design Services, Commercial Telephone, Voice Talent Production, Short Message Services, Single Number Reach and Blogging. As a result of this migration, we will be able to increase our capacity to provide our awesome services at a greater scale.
The two schedule migration blocks will be as follows. On Tuesday, September 23rd, we will be migrating our shared email, website and CRM hosted systems. This will impact all email and website accounts company wide. The downtime impact will begin at the onset of the maintenance which is set to occur at 11:00 p.m. and should it not last more than one hour. However, we have specified two hours as a precaution.
On Tuesday, September 30th, we will be migrating our VoIP infrastructure which will impact all of our telecommunications customers. It will affect all incoming and outgoing calls across our network. The downtime impact will begin at the onset of the maintenance which is also set to commence at 11:00 p.m. and should also not last more than one hour. Again, we have specified two hours as a precaution.
The rest of the maintenance that we will be conducting will serve to stabilize our redundancies and work on any tweaks to bring the system to full operation. Once the migration has been completed, you may be required to restart your end point devices and routers by disconnecting the power and re-registering to our provisioning servers.
