Make Your Monday Merry

Let’s be honest. Mondays can be tough. For many of us, getting up for work this morning was something we wish we didn’t have to do. Good thing your MeloTel Blog was updated bright and early today, to help you through the most dreaded of all days. Mondays don’t have to be so bad. In fact, there are a number of ways you can help yourself to get motivated when the beginning of the work week comes along.

On TheDailyAwe.com, a blogger known as Lindsay lists a number of suggestions that offer to help people with their Monday malaise. Taking a look at this list, we realized that it is quite similar to our own views of how to begin a work week. So we thought we’d share some of these ideas by adding our own spin to them.

Tip #1: Do you. In other words, instead of getting up and feeling dreary about the entire process, take some time to reflect on yourself. Consider waking up early but not getting out of bed right away. Use your Monday mornings to focus on your goals and aspirations and give yourself a pep talk on how you will follow through on your commitments to make yourself happy every week.

Tip #2: Pump it up! Music not only soothes the savage beast but it energizes the tired employee. Put on some upbeat music to get you rejuvenated and excited about the day ahead. Go ahead and dance as you go through your morning routines. Sing in the shower, boogie while you eat breakfast. As Lindsay notes, it will get you moving and ready to face the day.

Tip #3: Banish the badness. You know what? Don’t turn on the morning news. Go ahead and see what it’s like to begin your week without hearing the latest bad news story. Avoid giving yourself extra reasons to get stressed out and just stay tuned in to your own positive energies.

Tip #4: Greet the goodness. How about starting off your week by doing a good deed? Lindsay suggests that you buy a stranger a morning coffee. Perhaps, there’s no better way to start off your Monday by making it a brighter day for somebody else. Positive actions beget more positivity. Pass along the smiles!

Tip #5: Encourage yourself. “Tell yourself you’re going to have a good day,” says Lindsay. No matter how many things you have in front of you to do, if you encourage yourself with a positive mindset, you will be able to handle them all so much easier. Writes Linsday, “Life is 10% of what happens to us and 90% of how we react to it. Choose to react positively, even (and especially) when it’s hard.”
