The Importance Of Composing Readable Website Copy

Your company website is an integral part of your brand’s image. Especially in today’s tech-savvy, internet-obsessed world, it plays a huge role in the ways in which the public perceives your business. Let it not be lost on you that your website will be a first-choice, go-to destination for consumers who are interested in your products and services. It’s of vital importance, therefore, that it is easy to read.

Never underestimate the importance of readability. It has “make or break” potential when it comes to securing new business. When people visit your site, they need to be greeted with eye-catching visuals, easy-to-navigate capabilities and text that is engaging and digestible. It can mean the difference between a visitor spending a few seconds before leaving the site and continually coming back to it for more information.

How do you make your text engaging and digestible?

It’s important to remember that visitors to your site are not experts in your field. They don’t want to have to sift through a bunch of industry jargon and complex terms. You’re the expert – that’s why they’ve come to you. But, it’s important to communicate your expertise through verbiage that takes on a conversational tone. The vast majority of MeloTel blogs (and this one is no exception) is made up of approximately 7-9 paragraphs that are made up of about 4-7 lines of text each. Every few paragraphs, there is generally a subheading, in bold, that is either a question (as evidenced by the beginning of this paragraph) or a numbered point (as you may have seen if this blog was entitled “5 Steps To Composing Readable Website Copy”).

Naturally, these steps aren’t exclusive to blog posts alone. You’ll notice that our website incorporates a number of tabs to bring our visitors to appropriate pages that allow them to learn more about the products and services we offer. Each page is comprised of at least one visually-stimulating photo, a vibrant heading and a few short paragraphs describing the service. Where necessary, there are subheadings to break up the text into easier-to-read sections.

Well, let’s look no further than the Bloggers & Creative Writers For Hire page!
