How To Create The Perfect Holiday Voicemail Greeting

For many businesses across North America, the time to shut the doors, in order to celebrate the holidays, is quickly approaching. For some, a short break will be taken. Days such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day will be the specific ones designated for days off work. For other companies, a full two-week break is coming staring on the 23rd of December and ending on the 6th of January. No matter what type of break you have planned, it’s important to communicate it to your customers, as we pointed out in our blog two days ago. Of course, there are many ways in which you can communicate your holiday hours. One very important way is through your voicemail greeting!

Make it informative.

Let all of your callers know about your holiday availability. You should already have your voicemail greetings all set up to inform your callers about your holiday hours. That way, you’ll (hopefully) leave no one disappointed if/when they call you during your break.

However, it’s also a good idea to change your outgoing voicemail greeting during the time you’re actually on your break. Anyone who calls you during the holidays should be met with some holiday cheer!

Make it humorous.

No one expects you to be on the level of a stand up comedian. But if you add a joke or two to your holiday voicemail greetings, you’ll help to ease any potential tension felt by your callers. They are bound to understand that you may not be available during the holidays. However, that may not stop them from calling if a pressing issue arises. Your attempts at humour should hopefully quell their disappointment until the time comes for you to reply to their messages.

Make it musical.
