Thanksgiving weekend starts tomorrow! On behalf of the entire MeloTel team, we’d like to wish you a very fun and relaxing weekend surrounded by family and friends. We imagine that, like the members of the MeloTel team, you have your sights set on a big turkey dinner and an occasion (or two) involving numerous family members and friends. No matter how you celebrate – or even if you don’t celebrate at all! – we hope the forthcoming long weekend offers you much joy.
With that said, it’s important to note that being thankful isn’t an activity that should come once a year. It only makes sense to show gratitude to those who deserve it all year round. At MeloTel, we’re incredibly thankful for our customers. As we pointed out a few blogs back, thanking your customers should be a year-round activity. The same can be said about thanking your employees.
Where would you be without the fine people who work for you? Coming up with ways to show them how much they mean to you is a chief responsibility as a business owner. With Thanksgiving on the way, let’s continue our blog from a couple of days ago and take a look at a couple more thoughtful ways to thank the members of your team.
You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn’t use social media these days. It’s hard to argue that the Twitters, Facebooks and Instagrams of the world aren’t the best ways to get the word out. Offering a public show of gratitude is a great way to express to your employees how much they mean to you. Back in June, we went so far as blogging about MeloTel’s MVP, Chantel Cascanette and posting the link to the blog on all of our social media accounts.
“Don’t underestimate the importance of telling the world how smart and dedicated each of your employees is,” advises Minda Zetlin on Inc.com, “If they use LinkedIn (as so many professionals do) make sure to find their profiles and add recommendations, calling out their skills and expertise. Finding that your boss has added a glowing recommendation to your LinkedIn profile can really make an employee feel noticed and valued.
It doesn’t matter how old you get. Coming upon a “treasure” is always a fun experience! Getting surprised is always a joy. So combine the two enjoyable instances by hiding gifts around the work areas where your employees spend their days. Attach little thank you notes and be sure to express why you are so grateful to have each member on your team.
“After employees leave for the day is a great time to sneak a little surprise into their desk or under their computer,” suggests Zetlin, “What that surprise is should be individual to the employee…A small box of fine chocolates might be the right treat for a different colleague, or perhaps a book that you know someone’s been wanting to read.”
