Business Owners Deserve Holidays Too!

Happy holidays everyone! Yes, we’re still a couple of weeks from the official start of the holidays…but it’s the MeloTel way to spread holiday cheer all month long. It’s also the MeloTel way to keep our customers in the loop about all of the goings-on with our business. And we just wanted to remind you that we will be closed from December 22nd to December 26th. We will open on the 27th for the duration of that week until the 29th and then close down until January 2nd.

We don’t just want to remind you about our holiday hours…we also want to remind you that it’s okay to take some for yourself! So many business owners across North America get so wrapped up in the duties that come along with their jobs that they forget to take much-needed time away from work.

If the forthcoming holiday season isn’t the perfect time to get away from the pressures of your job, then when is?

Believe it or not, there are many benefits to taking a break. As a business owner, you likely work long hours and take on more responsibilities than anyone else in your organization. This can hinder your ability to be productive. Simply put, your job can get tiring. And when you’re exhausted, feeling burnt out and frustrated by everything you have to handle, you cease to be effective.

Taking a holiday is, in actuality, an effective business-boosting strategy. Give yourself the opportunity to relax and recharge. Not to mention, injecting some festive holiday cheer into your life will only help you to be a better leader. In our last blog, we revisited the importance of keeping your staff motivated. If you’re not motivated, your employees won’t be either!

Try not to cheat!

In other words, when you take time off…really take time off! Don’t allow your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer at home serve as distractions to the task at hand – enjoying yourself! Your family will appreciate it. But, when it’s all said and done, so will you. Be sure to unplug this holiday season and give yourself the opportunity to truly get away from the stresses of being the boss.

With that said, it’s a good idea to let your customers know that they haven’t been forgotten. Leave a holiday-themed outgoing message on your phone system to inform callers about your holiday hours and that you will attend to their concerns as soon as the holidays are over. If you wish, inform callers that, for emergency situations, you will make yourself available. This may defeat the whole purpose of taking time off, but you don’t want your brand image to suffer.
