We’re getting pretty close to the Thanksgiving long weekend! Here’s hoping you have a lot to be thankful for this year. Our team is certainly very happy to say that we are thankful for quite a bit. While giving thanks shouldn’t be regulated to one day a year, it’s probably a good time to list some thoughtful ways to thank the members of your team.

Ask anyone who is a regular commuter how much it means to them to get a lift. Especially during the upcoming winter, the avoidance of long bus stop waits are considered to be among the best gifts a person can get. Give your employees rides when you have the availability to do so. This will go a long way in tightly securing employee satisfaction during the winter months.
As Minda Zetlin puts it on Inc.com, “there’s nothing you can do about the weather, but at least you can help them get where they’re going a little more easily by giving them a month’s worth of commuting support, either gift cards for gas, or a commuter pass, depending on their preferred form of transportation.”
To some, this may seem like a corny idea. To others, receiving a handwritten is one of the most thoughtful acts of kindness they can receive. A handwritten note, as opposed to an email, requires particular effort. There’s no way to send it out to a mass audience. It’s a message intended for one. Be sure to be specific about why you’re so thankful to have your employee on your staff in each note you write.
“Never underestimate the power of a few kind words,” insists GetLighthouse.com, “While you can always shoot off a note in chat or over email, take a moment when it really matters to write it by hand…There’s something more meaningful about these notes, and because they’re physical, I can hold onto them. The same thing you’d read in an email feels 10 times more impactful when it’s in an envelope you open and read. And research backs up this feeling.”
This act of generosity and kindness is arguably the nicest thing you can do for your employees. And that’s because you’re not really doing it for them! The selfless act of donating to a charity is one that can’t be viewed through a negative scope. However, donating to a charity that is near and dear to the hearts of your employees is one of the best ways to thank them for being part of your team.
“You can either offer a smaller donation to a charity selected by individual employees or teams, or you can allow the whole company to vote on a more substantial donation to a charity they all choose together,” writes Zetlin, “The important element is that your employees choose the charity, not you.”
