3 Signs Your Company Website Just Isn’t Right

The design of MeloTel’s website gets updated almost every year. The MeloTel Blog updates almost every day. These are just a couple of the things we do to make sure that our company website remains a viable resource in the telecommunications industry. In addition to keeping our website fresh, we also update our social media profiles regularly. It’s all about maintaining a strong online presence.

How well is your company website performing for your company? Are there some changes that need to be made? Here are three signs your company website just isn’t right:

1. It features an outdated design.

Your company website is the online representation of your place of business. So think of the two as one and the same. Does your place of business look the same as it did the day it first opened? Have there been any renovations of your location? Your website requires the same cosmetic attention. It can’t be left with the same old outdated design it began with. Unimpressed visitors will leave and never come back to a site that never changes.

“Is your site narrow and static?” asks Kelly Thomas Mango of Openvine Internet Solutions, “Is there movement? Does it look cluttered? Are the images old, tiny, or of poor quality? Is it just plain boring? Not only are outdated websites less enjoyable to view, but statistics also show that about 50% of visitors feel that website design is the number one thing that speaks to the credibility of a business– for better or worse.”

2. It isn’t mobile friendly.

If people have a hard time accessing your site from their smartphones, they’re not likely to try logging on using their desktop computers. It’s important to remember just how frequently people use mobile devices to access the internet. Simply put, your site needs to be mobile friendly in order to provide value.

“Nowadays, 80 percent of internet users own a smartphone,” explains blogger, Karol K for Telepathy, “Even more importantly, for 60 percent of global mobile users, their mobile device is their primary or only device for accessing the web. What this means is simple: If your design is not optimized to be viewed on mobile, it’s high time to stop living under that rock of yours and finally take care of this!”

3. It has low SEO rankings.

How often do you add new content to your company website? If you do so infrequently, it will hurt your site’s chances of ranking highly in search engines. In yesterday’s blog, we highlighted the benefits of blogging. Regular blogs are great ways to keep search engines happy. But they aren’t the only way to improve your company’s placement in search results.

“There are many factors that come into play when considering why your website isn’t showing on the first page or two of search results,” writes Mango, “These include load time, responsiveness, the amount of fresh content that is added to the website, the usability, and other factors that search engines take into account to deem your website ‘valuable’ to searchers.”
