3 Questions To Ask Yourself When Redesigning Your Website

In our last blog, we revisited the topic of website revamping. One could argue that, in today’s world, a company’s online presence is its most important asset. With so many businesses across North America not fully opened, at the moment, it stands to reason that using your website to push sales and brand messages is the right move. But is your website doing its job? It might be time for a change.

Here are three questions to ask yourself when redesigning your website:

1. Is your site mobile friendly?

In recent years, internet use has been trending towards being more mobile-based. The days of the desktop computer being a person’s main source of connecting to the worldwide web are over. Studies are showing that more than half of those who surf the net do so on their smartphones and tablets. That pretty much means that having a mobile friendly site is a must.

In addition, Google is known for ranking mobile websites according to their response times. If your site takes too long to load, it’s not going to be a popular destination for web users. Updating your website to ensure that it’s very easy to view and navigate through on mobile devices is a must.

2. Is your traffic dwindling?

To put it bluntly, if you don’t have a strong online presence, you’re nothing. Okay, to put it a bit more fairly, if your company website isn’t up to snuff, your audience is going to dwindle. These days, people put a lot of stock in how well represented a company is online. Remember that the majority of consumers research products, services and businesses online before they spend any of their money.

Does your website make it easy for visitors to find what they’re looking for? Does it answer questions most people in your target audience generally ask? Is your website attractive enough to keep new visitors from logging off within seconds? Answer these questions honestly. Then make the necessary revisions to impress all those who visit.

3. Does your site look outdated?

Here’s an easy question to answer…hopefully. When is the last time your company website was updated? Simply put, your site requires constant facelifts. We’re not talking about every year necessarily. However, as time passes, the same old logo, the same old photos and the same old layout simply gets…old. After a while, a non-changing site gives visitors no reason to keep returning. The bottom line is that you must keep up with the times.

Other company websites get updated. Why hasn’t yours? The last thing you want is for a site visitor to choose your competitor because its site looks more modernized than yours. Your marketing messages have certainly updated over the years. Be sure to update your site accordingly.
