3 Important Questions To Ask Yourself Before Starting Your Blog

This “voice” we keep speaking of represents both the verbiage and the tone of the content on your website. Is it humorous and light-hearted? Is it direct and informative? Or is it somewhere in between? Having a good handle on your brand messaging and who it’s intended for will help you to determine the right way to compose the content for your blog.

2. What type of blog do I most enjoy reading?

In our last blog, we pointed out the four most popular blog types: lists, news, anecdotes and commercials. (You may want to give it a read for clarification). But which style is your favourite? Before you can settle on a blog style, you may want to ask yourself, “Would I want to read it?”

Keeping your target audience in mind, select the type of blog that you think would be most attractive to your readership. You certainly don’t have to settle on just one. A mix of all of the above can add the type of diversity to your blog section that will keep readers coming back for more.

3. How often do I want to post blogs to my website?

Some of our clients enjoy having new blog posts on a weekly basis. Some prefer every other week. And then there are those who like to have updated content on their websites every day. There’s no wrong answer. Although it’s true that the more new content on your site, the higher it is bound to rank in search engines. Google looks favourably upon websites that stay fresh. The question, we suppose, is “How high do you want your website to rank?”
