Happy 150th Birthday Canada!

It all started on July 1, 1867. Well, it didn’t actually start on that date. But it’s the one recognized as when the “Dominion of Canada” became an official nation. As of tomorrow, that date will have been exactly 150 years ago. Needless to say, we are in for a quite the holiday long weekend, here in Canada. And, on behalf of the entire MeloTel team, we’d like to wish you the very happiest of Canada Days!

We couldn’t be more proud of being Canadian. The second you log on to the MeloTel website, you’re greeted with “Canada’s Hosted Company” as the tagline underneath our company logo. And while we proudly serve the needs of business owners all over North America (Happy Independence Day to our neighbours south of the border, by the way!), we can’t help but declare our pride in representing that glorious red maple leaf.

After all, we Canadians have a lot to be proud about. It’s no secret that our nation has gained quite a favourable reputation across the globe. It seems our politeness and good-natured humour may have something to do with it. Earlier this week, this came up in a discussion that the MeloTel team had about being Canadian.

“Canadians often say that they’re sorry, sorry, sorry all the time,” said MeloTel’s Founder and CEO, John Meloche, “But I’m never sorry to say that I am Canadian!”

Evidently, Canadians aren’t above a little bit of bragging every now and again. At MeloTel, we think that we’ve earned it. “I can’t help but be a proud Canadian,” declared MeloTel’s Editor In Chief, Daniel Faraldo, “With a population as small as ours, it’s pretty incredible that so many Canadians have left such indelible marks in the world. Let’s not forget that a Canadian invented the telephone!”

“People around the world love and accept Canadians so much that our neighbours pretend to be us when they travel,” remarked MeloTel’s Administrative Assistant, Chantel Cascanette, “and this makes me so proud.” That’s not all that makes Chantel proud. There are some “Canadianisms” that she couldn’t help but mention when asked about why she so enjoys being a Canuck.

“I like that when you’re running late for work and you walk in with a Tim Horton’s coffee, that you don’t even get in trouble…because everyone needs to start their day with Timmies!” she announced. Of course, John wasn’t able to help himself upon hearing this comment. “For the record, she’s never walked in, in the morning, with Tim Horton’s,” he quipped.

However, it was MeloTel’s Customer Service Supervisor, Michael Paz who expressed the sentiments of the MeloTel team in the best way possible.

“I love Canada, we are a peacekeeping country with beautiful people, beautiful scenery, and friendly neighbours,” he added, “Canadians are often perceived as some of the friendliest people by many countries across the globe. I encourage you all this Canada day to be as friendly as you can be to everyone you come across to help keep the Canadian spirit this Canada Day. I wish you all the best this Canada Day and sincerely I hope you enjoy spending time with loved ones enjoying some of the beautiful scenery this country has to offer.”

Happy 150th Canada!
