It may be hard to believe but we’re nearly at the halfway point of 2017. (See what we did there? “May”) This is the time of year when many people begin feeling the drag of each work day. Longing for another holiday (it’s a good thing the Victoria Day long weekend is coming up, we suppose), workers tend to need a little added motivation to come into their jobs each day. Let it not be lost on you that motivating your employees is a huge part of your job.
“A happy staff is a productive staff.” That’s sort of a mantra around the MeloTel offices and it has appeared in many of our blogs. That’s because it’s an undeniable truth. When business owners put efforts into creating upbeat environments at their places of business, they automatically reap the benefits of stronger sales and higher customer satisfaction.
So what can you do to keep your employees at high energy levels? Here are four ideas:
1. Inject fun into your morning meetings.
Especially for non-morning people, a morning meeting can really help to set a work day off in a positive way. That is, of course, if the morning meeting is a positive experience. Don’t make it all about work. Tell some jokes. Share some stories. Offer your employees the opportunity to do the same. Make everyone on your staff feel that they have a voice. End with a motivational gesture that will help boost the energy levels of your office first thing in the morning!
2. Celebrate their accomplishments.
You’d be hard pressed to find any individual who doesn’t appreciate recognition. Even the most humble of employees will enjoy the fact that he/she has had a “job well done” acknowledged. Make it a point to highlight the contributions of your employees in your morning meetings. Offer particular incentives for high performance. They don’t always have to be monetary, by the way. A free lunch, access to the best parking space and an early leave on Friday are great ways to keep your employees motivated to do their best.
3. Be approachable.
Leading by example is probably the best way to get your employees to perform at high levels. And that includes having a positive attitude. If you’re upbeat and energetic, chances are your employees will follow suit. It’s important, however, that your team members know that they can come to you for help. When you make it clear that you can be approached for assistance at any time, it will motivate your team to address problems early and not let them linger. This makes for both happier team members and higher productivity.
4. Offer regular feedback.
Earlier, we championed the act of motivating your staff members. But there are bound to be times when everything you tell them won’t be all smiles and laughter. As we also mentioned, your team depends on you to help them when they need it. And offering feedback to show them how they can improve is an important part of keeping their energy levels high. After all, no one wants to do a bad job.
At MeloTel, we offer the perfect way to monitor your call centre employees. The Monitor/Whisper Control Panel doesn’t just allow you to listen to their phone calls live and as they happen, but it also enables you to whisper information to your phone agents while they are on their calls. That way, you can immediately assist with any issues that may arise, helping them to satisfy their customers during their first points of contact.
By offering immediate feedback and helping your phone agents better their skills, you will find a boost in both productivity and overall employee morale! For more information about the Monitor/Whisper Control Panel, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 1-888-MELOTEL or use the Live Chat feature on our website!
